Fitzsimmons New Air Bureau Chief

Catharine Fitzsimmons is the DNR's new Air Quality Bureau chief. Fitzsimmons has ten years experience in air quality, serving as planning section supervisor overseeing budget, rules and dispersion modeling. She also served as interim director for former chief, Pete Hamlin, who retired in January. Fitzsimmons was born in Ithaca, New York and holds a bachelor's of science degree from Cornell University in plant science and a master's of public administration from Iowa State University. She moved to Iowa in 1984 and before working at the DNR she was crop curator at the USDA's plant introduction station in Ames.
