Air Permitting Workshop Scheduled for September 11 AWMA Meeting

The Air Quality Bureau of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host an instructional workshop in Amana for the September 11 meeting of the Iowa Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association.

From noon until 3:15 p.m. the DNR will review the air permitting application process, including completing potential emission calculations and application forms and the new greenhouse gases construction permit form. At 3:30 p.m. the focus will switch to EPA-proposed changes to the ozone and PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standards, as well as the recent court vacatures of several MACT standards and other regulatory updates. After dinner Wayne Geiselman, DNR Environmental Services Division Administrator, will update members on the status of changing landfill regulations, explain water quality issues, and discuss current developments and environmental concerns with Iowa ’s growing energy industry.

Costs for the entire event are $20 for members and $30 for non-members; the workshop only is $10 for members, $15 for non-members; dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the keynote address is $17 for members, $20 for non-members.
