DNR's 30 minute video helps building owners, municipalities and fire departments determine if and when they are subject to asbestos NESHAP rules and shows how to avoid the most common mistakes and violations.
The video helps building owners, contractors and others understand what constitutes inspecting, measuring and classifying asbestos materials and, if needed, how to properly file renovation and demolition notification forms and meet workpractice requirements. A 22 page booklet and two flowchart posters also are provided.
"The video helps people avoid noncompliance by providing a good overview of the asbestos program," said DNR's asbestos coordinator, Marion Burnside. "It helps building owners or managers who hire asbestos abatement companies ensure they get what they pay for. It also assists demolition and renovation companies in filing paperwork correctly," he said.
The video illustrates differences between demolition and renovation, different asbestos classifications and what occurs during abatement projects.
